Once you have set up your blogging account, practice posting by playing the Jamestown game. In the response area, tell the class what you learned from playing, and what adjustments did you have to make. In which area did you do the best? The worst?

I learned that what we know as good living conditions are very different than what they were back then. Some adjustments i had to make were picking the right kind of place to live and the right type of housing for the area in which i chose to settle. i had the best score in the food area. i had the worst score in the health area.
ReplyDeleteI did good in the food part and the protection. I didn't do so great in the health part. I learned that if I where to run my own town I would most likely not have alot of healthy people from my choices I have made within this game.
ReplyDeleteI chose to build a small town near the ocean to fish. I planted wheat, corn, and tobacco. I was in the 'good' reigon for everything. I became the mayor of Virgina, so basically i pwn.
ReplyDeleteI chose to build a town on the sea region. I decided to look for gold instead of fishing for fish. For my crops i decided to chose tabacco, wheat, and corn, but my health isn't that good right now. It says i'm in an area where diseases could get into my crops because of the river in such. So looks like i'm off to a bad start.
ReplyDeleteThe only good I had was the food rating basically everything else was bad. So I would have been a horrible colonist.
ReplyDeleteI chose to look for food and not gold which meant that the people weren't as happy as they could have been because they thought they were going to strike rich. I kept my people well fed because I chose to look for food and not gold but the people's health suffered because I chose to land in the marsh where there was malaria. If I were to do this again I would land in a different place so that my people didn't get sick.
ReplyDeleteI learned from playing the game that the colonists at Jamestown made poor decisions basically in everything they did. First off they picked a poor spot to settle at. Also many of them were more concerned with searching for gold than growing food, which is always a good thing. Basically my decisions were all right on except for the one the build a castle. In making a castle I wasted a lot of time and effort but I would make it if I played again because what is cooler than a castle?
ReplyDeleteI chose to create a town near the sea. I chose to have the colonists search for gold and to fish. In the fields corn and wheet were planted. The results were good, sanitation and protection seemed to be the only issue. Next time i'll put up a wall, and have a more sanitary settlement.
ReplyDeleteChoosing to settle inland ended up working the best. It prevented the diseases that were spread when people had originally settled in the swampy area closer to the coast. The wood fort was also the best choice over the villiage and castle.
ReplyDeletei build a castle near the ocean that way is was easy to get food supplies and it provided more protection agaist attackers. although having a castle was good for protection, it was bad for overall well being.....it was easy to spead diseases while having a castle. I also made the decision to trade with the indians that way we can gain foreign food or objects but we can also gain their trust and learn new traits, good for protection. i planted corn, wheat, and tobacco in my gardens because that way i could have somthing to trade and at the same time have food
ReplyDeleteI did fair with my amount of food supplied. My strongest point was my wealth and the weakest point was that i killed all my colonist. I chose to attack and we were poorly defended.
ReplyDeleteI killed everyone 0ver and 0ver again and kept them hungry which ruined me
ReplyDeletei picked the middle x, to put my castle up.i gathered gold and i hunted. i put tobacco in all three fields. I didnt do good in any of the areas. My food rating was poor, they all were starving. The health rating was bad, i killed everyone. i chose the castle and its good on defense, but doesnt have good sanation. wealth was undefined and my moral was poor i got fired.
ReplyDeleteI learned to build my colony near water so they can fish. I planted tobacco, corn, and wheat. My food supply was good. I learned not to build it near the ocean in a town. my town was exposed to diseases. my health rating was poor. I didnt have to make adjustements.
ReplyDeleteya im a governor of virgina lol i built a town on the coastal bulff and decided to trade with the indians, i have a good food supply and fair health, i also had a good wealth rating. i had production in gold and in fishing with everyone working including the gentlemen
ReplyDeletei have learned about the way people had to survive back then. Adjustments that had to be made were the proper place to settle and the type of shelter i needed to supply to my people in order for survival. the area that was best was my food rating. the worst was my heath rating

ReplyDeleteMy food rating was good. I head plenty of food for all of the colonists. The health rating was poor. I shouldn't have had an open town to prevent illness and attack. My wealth rating was good. My morale rating was fair. I chose that everyone works, even the wealthy.
ReplyDeleteApparently I can make the correct decisions when it comes what to grow and who to trade with because I made good money but it’s where you land. The marshlands harbor disease and it killed some of my people witch is a bummer but I learned that everyone should work and gold isn’t the only thing the new world is about.
ReplyDeletei learnd that when i landed in the marsh that was bad for everyone because it made them sick. but i did trade with the indians and that was a great joice because they had stuff that we needed to live. i chose to fish and look for gold and that was a great choise also.
ReplyDeletei did realy good on my food. then i was rated good on the others. its important to relise theres many needs to be filled.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite an experience. It was interesting to know what life was like back then. The immigrants and Natives tend to dissagree on many things. I could see the indians getting frustrated at times because they settled at the land first and the immigrants want what they don't. I believe that the immigrants are better off listening to the native's for suggestions. Luckily I was able to satisfy both natives and immigrants. We had plenty of food and money, and were healthy.
